SUMMARY: Matt Trousdale Lessons
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
We started off looking at Somewhere in the Middle,
working out some of the questions Matt had about it,
and the melody part in particular. \n We then added a
new country song, Somewhere Down in Texas by Jason
  Boland.

SUMMARY: Matt Trousdale Lessons
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
We tried playing Somewhere Down in Texas in E, before
moving back to C so we could play the melodic fiddle
part a bit, then Matt sang and played through it. \n
After that we worked on Brandon Jenkins, Feet Don't
Touch The Ground - it has some cool hammer-ons on the d
string, and a fancy melodic thing on the D chord which
we figured out and I wrote for him.

SUMMARY: Matt Trousdale Lessons
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
We started off with reviewing "America, Sister Golden
Hair" from last week. Matt worked on singing and
playing it at the same time.\n We then spent some
time with "Jason Boland & The Stragglers, Proud Soul"
\n We discussed the 5 scale positions on the neck and
how to use the open e, a, and d strings to create a
bass note over which to play the scale.\n Here is
that neck image we used today: \n

SUMMARY: Matt Trousdale Lessons
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
We spoke at length through the first 30 minutes about
finding the best key for a voice. Some things to
consider:\n 1. The highest note of the melody in
  numbers (1 through 7 -- do, re, me etc)\n 2. The
highest note one can sing\n 3. Modify the key based on
the above.\n So if the highest note you can sing is a
C, and the high note is above that, perhaps a G, then
figure out which number that is for the key. If it's
the six note of the scale, then G is the sixth note of
B flat. \n Take that information, and make C the
sixth of the new optimal key. C is the sixth note of E
flat, so that's your new key.\n After that we looked
at Simple Man fingering by Shinedown.
