He didn't seem agreeable to try them, and then at one point admitted he didn't understand, so we went over the past songs he's learned which all have eighth notes, and I highlighted them again to help make it clear. After that he played them mostly correctly.\n Then we talked about adding the left hand- I've introduced chords, which he was resistant to. Every-once-in-a-while he'd take another stab at it, but I think was just a bit overwhelmed.
