Andre Moser
Past Notes
October 8th, 2025
Andre is doing well. We played through what he has done so far for Here Comes the Sun, and I wrote out more of the song and we practised that together. He's got a natural ability, and I'm excited to see where he will go if he keeps applying himself and we can keep him challenged. Happy Thanksgiving!

Andre didn't have his book, but he remembered "Don't You Forget About Me" beginning - he said he hadn't remembered how to play Here Comes the Sun very well, so I wrote it out again, and we went over it a number of times trying to smooth out the rough spots.
We used two hands, with a simple left hand note.
He's doing very well. I think Andre may have a natural aptitude to music.

I screwed up a bit, and chose the wrong song- Andre asked for Don't Forget Me from Breakfast Club, and I wrote out Don't You Forget About Me by Glass Tiger. Doh!
We didn't have a lot of time to write out the other parts for the CORRECT song - so instead Here Comes the Sun, which I already knew fairly well.
Sorry about that!

Andre is doing very well on Count On Me. He played through it kind of awkwardly at first, carefully reading the notes, and taking too much time between them, so I asked him to see how far he could go with playing from memory. He even played portions with his eyes closed.
By the end, he was playing the whole song without looking, and playing it in good time (which isn't normal for a kid to be able to do this early).
We then looked at another song, from a game called My Singing Monsters, "Loodvigg." It's not really a song, per se, but we learned how to do it anyway, and this was a good opportunity for him to try two hands.

The other song last week which I forgot was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We went through the three songs first off, and they were all great although the second line of Happy Birthday was a little confusing, so we reworked it, and I asked him to do it again this week.
Each week it's a good idea to revisit songs from the past, but once he gets a handle on them, he doesn't need to practise them all over again... I just don't want him forgetting things we've learned in the past.
Then we added Down By The Bay, and learned about eighth notes (tee tees) and sharps (F sharp is marked as F#)
At the end of the lesson we added Bruno Mars, Count On Me - just the melody of the chorus.

This was Andre's first week. He found the pattern on the keyboard, and we learned the names of the notes, starting with "D" in the "doghouse."
I then wrote out three songs for him to learn: Mary Had a Little Lamb, Happy Birthday, and another which I've now forgotten! We went over them together and discussed a few outlying things, like sharps and flats, and fingering (which gets weird for Happy Birthday).
He picks things up quickly! I'm looking forward to teach Andre!
