Jayde Revell

Past Notes

October 8th, 2025
2025-10-08 18:30:00 Marshemello, Happier

We went through Ordinary - Jayde is doing really well on it. I asked her to keep improving it, and making it smoother, and we added a new song as well - I wrote out as much as I could do quickly of Happier, by Marshmello.

I'll work on it and send the PDF when more of it is ready to print.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Jayde and I played through Ordinary and I helped her with which fingers she should use so she has a more flowing approach to the notes. (It's tempting to play with whatever fingers are immediately accessible, but it's better to think ahead about the run of notes you'll need and order your fingerings accordingly.)

2025-09-24 18:30:00 Alex Warren, Ordinary

Jayde played through EWTRTW and did a great job - a couple places where she sort of stopped or slowed down lowered her mark for me, but she said she'd keep working on it and try to get her mark up to 10.

We added a new song, Ordinary by Alex Warren. I tried to write it out as fast as I could, but printed it before I was done. I'll send a PDF for you to print when it's finished so she can learn more of it than I was able to do in the lesson time.

We worked on Everybody Wants to Rule the World. There were a few slow spots and places Jayde was struggling, so we focused on that. We also discussed and practised fingerings where she was alternating between just two fingers.

I asked her to write a list in the back of her book of songs she'd like to hear in the future.

2025-09-10 18:30:00 Tears for Fears, Everybody Wants to Rule the World

Today Jayde played through her songs for me, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Jingle Bells, and Happy Birthday. She did very well on them, evening adding a C chord to Mary Had a Little Lamb!

We added a new one, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, and I printed out an easy-piano arrangement I did for kids. We went through it three or four times.

September 3rd, 2025

This was Jayde's first week. She has been learning piano on an app, and knew a few songs already, and had learned the names of the keys. I wrote out Mary Had a Little Lamb (which she knew fairly well), and Jingle Bells, and Happy Birthday. We briefly talked about flats and sharps, and chords, and she played the C, F, and G chords for me.
